Kristin Nicholas is Coming to In The Loop!

Kristin Nicholas is the author of several books, including Kristin Knits and Color by Kristin and has her own line of yarn called Julia with Nashua Handknits.  We are thrilled and honored to have Kristin come to our shop on Saturday, May 22th for a day full of color knitting and embellishments!

The morning class will be The Edge of Color from 9:00 – 12:00.  This class teaches you how to turn a plain stockinette stitch pullover into one with lots of style.  You will learn about picot edging, corrugated ribbing, bobbled edges, mitered edges, lacey edges, lumpy edges, ruffles, points, fringe, cabled edges, moss stitch and sculpted bell edges.  Many of the edges will be knit in multiple colors.  You will leave with a wealth of  ideas to transform your plain knits into extraordinary knits.  Students must bring an 8 x 8″ swatch knit in stockinette stitch using a worsted weight yarn.  Please bring size 7 double pointed needles (only 2 are needed, not 4), scissors and several colors of solid worsted weight yarn.  The fee for this class is: $40.00.

The afternoon class is Embellishing Knitwear from 1:00 – 4:00.  If you love the idea of knitting with color, but Fair Isle or Intarsia techniques are not quite your thing, step into Kristin’s world of embellishing knitwear with a needle and thread.  You will learn duplicate stitch, chain stitch, French knots, lazy daisies, spider web, running stitch and more.  Kristin will share her techniques to give your embroidery a professional look.  Students should bring one 8 x 8″ swatch knit in worsted weight stockinette stitch, several colors of smooth worsted weight yarn, a tapestry needle (blunt point) and scissors.  Optional:  two color Fair Isle swatch.  The fee for this class is $40.00.

You can choose to attend one or both of the classes.  If you choose to take both, we will provide lunch.   The class size will be limited to 10 people and the deadline for registration is Saturday, May 15th.  A non-refundable payment is required at time at registration.   Please see our Store Policy page for details.
